Finally today my husband got to read over my writing. It was the first time I’ve ever shown any creative writing to another person. I was kind of worried that he wouldn’t want to hurt my feelings and would just say it was good even if it was awful. But he promised that he would be honest and constructive.
He said he liked it and was intrigued, but also gave me some suggestions to improve my word choices in some places. I did some editing afterwards and feel quite happy with it.
I also wrote some more backstories to put extra depth into the world, but at the same time I don’t want to overcomplicate things either, it can be hard to find a balance. But now, I know that I can trust my husband to be a good second opinion!

I think he is well read and will be a good critic. Glad your husband is supportive. It’s scary to show your writing to another person, the thing you created. Well done for being brave.
